The Blightfire of the Moors
The Blightfire of the Moors
The bark of the withered tree tells me that many believe this is where the Curse of the Gods was set upon Norrath to find and debilitate the Rallosian Army. And so that curse did. The Rathe set the curse deep into the earth in the Serpent Spine Mountains where it crawled and spread under the surface, reaching up out of the ground to touch those who dared invade the Plane of Earth.
From giant to orc and ogre to goblin it spread like a brushfire, though the effects were much more gradual. It was an unstoppable magic. And in the Moors, where the curse was laid down, there was an ill effect on the creatures and nature living there -- whether by some magic already there or by some fault of nature itself. But those that linger near the Blightfire turn into a shadow of their former selves.
As is always said, not all magic is perfect -- perhaps not even the magic of gods.
