Legacy of Chief Gekkdar of Nokk

When Rallos Zek ordained the first chief of the Spine ogres, Dronuk Rockjaw, he gave him the Amulet of Chieftains. It was not fully known what powers the amulet possessed or what effect it had, but it was treasured and revered as an item of the gods.

What was known was that only the direct bloodline of the Rockjaws and Thoots could touch the amulet. Any other who dared touch it would turn to ash. So as a chief may lay dead on a battleground, only the true heir to the chief could remove the amulet and place it around his neck to assume leadership of the Spine ogres.

It is said the elder shaman wove this ward around the Amulet of Chieftains to prevent any false heir from taking control of the ogres. Whether they were aware or not, the amulet harbored another magic. Each chief's soul became bound to the amulet as soon as it was placed around their neck. His soul could only pass in death as the amulet passed on to the true heir, completing the cycle of the chief's rule and ensuring only the rightful leader of the ogres possessed the amulet.

Now, as no heir lives to take the amulet from Gekkdar, his soul is forever bound to Amulet of Chieftains and his spirit lingers between life and death and likely will for an eternity unless a true heir of the Rockjaws finds the amulet and places it around his own neck.
