Plane of Fear

The nightmare realm of Cazic-Thule, the Faceless.

Overview

Drawn from The Maps of Myrist zone description.EQ1Primary · official

As mortals cross the astral barrier, the Plane of Fear manifests in physical form, assaulting all of the senses at once. The manifestation does not reveal the plane's true nature, but is a mask that conforms to the various preconceptions of The Faceless' mortal followers. The real appearance of the plane remains an eternal mystery. In fact, many scholars and devout of the Faceless claim that the realm of the Lord of Fear is far too intense for any mortal mind to absorb and comprehend, thus making concealment from mortal eyes a vital necessity.

What appears to the minds of those daring, brave, and likely foolish enough to willingly breach the barrier between the mortal and astral realms is an enormous jungle and swampland of fire and death, marked by graveyards, dark gothic mansions and castles with terrifying dungeons and caverns. The sky lurking above the horrific jungle is a constant haze of crimson that will often rain the very blood of the unfortunates who have fallen victim to The Faceless and his minions – either through sacrifice upon the prime or death within his realm.

The plane is inhabited by grotesque, fearsome creatures of great variety. Each creature is loyal solely to their creator, The Faceless, and serves only his divine will and might. Without hesitation, these frightful denizens of fear often attack in blood-thirsty hordes, mercilessly tearing their victim's forms to unrecognizable piles of flesh, bone, and blood upon which they feast.

Property of Ernie Gimblelock

I embarked on an adventure searching for the Shard of Fear. I left Gnomeland Security with some of my most useful inventions; at least I hope they will prove useful. I even brought along my Incorporeal-Visual Activators. Those should allow me to see any creatures that may not be physically manifesting themselves.

Getting to the Fear Gate itself was dangerous! I was very fortunate to have met some other adventurers sent by Rankle Clanghammer outside the cave in the Feerrott. If it hadn't been for them, I don't think I would have survived to have seen this shard.

I recall tales of ancient adventurers battling within the Plane of Fear, and now I am seeing what is left of it. This shard of the ancient Plane has hints of the old one, but one can see the scar the Rending has left here, too. I wonder if any of the planes have survived intact?

There are a few pages missing from this journal.

It has been a long trek and we have seen many gruesome sights already. But I will not let those setbacks deter me from exploring this Shard of the Fear Plane. Yes, one of my invenstions broke since coming in, and others have been of little help, but the goggles have been very useful! With them I have seen other beasts that my naked gnomish eyes could not. I see the tortured souls of adventurers that are trapped in the shard!

I want to investigate the Amygdalan sculpture wells, as lizardmen appear to congregate there, but nowhere else. I find this odd and could well be a sign that it is important. I think I will set out for one of them next and hide nearby to observe.

The Amygamalion - The Four That Are We (House Item)

In-game bookSOE-EQ2

This book is titled "The Amygamalion - The Four That Are We". It appears to be a myth concerning the creation of the Amygdalans. The great world that sets beneath our feet is not the true world. This land is but a false image of what truly is, for we are exiles from our true home. This land is the Dulling, whereas we come from the First Thought.
