Along with some very innovative armor patterns, this book contains discussions and illustrations of armor from Human history. Inside are told tales of forgotten sieges on Qeynos written by someone that was there. These stories talk about things that seem mundane at first, such as maintaining weapons and equipment while under a siege. By the end of the story, however, it is obvious that the tale was chosen because of the incredible details about use of armor in such situations. There are several notations from royal smiths about secret procedures used to make armor for elite warrior in Freeport. There are even a few documents and illustrations from the Combine Empire. The knowledge gathered in this tome is astounding, especially if the reader is an armor smith.
The patterns in this book can be copied many times, but eventually they will wear out and you can tell that if you use the patterns enough you will need to replace the book.
To create pattern for tailoring armor templates based on these patterns you will need this book, a large bottle of ink, a roll of plain parchment, a quill and a compacted backpack to hold the patterns you will make. You'll also need a book binding to do the work.
If you wish to use the patterns to make molds you'll need a kiln to work in as well as a high quality firing sheet, sculpting tools, a huge block of clay and a compacted backpack to hold the molds when you're done.
