The Dark Elves have begun a series of bold attacks against the citizens of Freeport. From their camps in Nektulos and the Commonlands, these dark menaces have attacked and killed anyone that they have come across, from merchants to members of the Freeport guard. Harold, an innkeeper in the Commonlands, told us of an encounter he had with these assassins.

I heard fighting outside. It didn't last very long before I heard Reskin scream out in pain. Karana help me but I'm not ashamed to say that I hid myself and Elora, my wife, in a back room. For a moment we heard silky voices speaking an evil tongue in the lobby, but they left without much of a search. I'm just glad that Jelda was in town on an errand. I don't know how much longer we can stay here. "

After so many years of relative peace in the area it is hard to explain the sudden and vicious attacks from Neriak. The Freeport Guard is increasing its presence in the area, though even they don't seem very confident that it will help. One member of the guard, who wished to remain anonymous, told us that he was more than a little frightened.

I don't see why we don't just pull back to the walls. Them inkies have the advantage on us out there, especially at night. It's foolish to tromp around out there trying to hunt them down just so some silly merchants don't have to move their shops into the city. Why should we protect them that choose to live out there? "

It is unclear what, if any, military action might be taken by the members of the Temple of Marr, though it seems unlikely that they will remain idle in their temple if this conflict continues for long.
