In an age of fear and discovery, the landscape of Norrath itself has changed. With the Shattering of the moon of Luclin, the lands outside of Qeynos have become dark and mysterious. Old powers have fallen, and greater enemies are rising. To thwart these forces of evil, a band of heroes has set out from Qeynos to face danger head on…and perhaps seek a bit of glory themselves.
Hoorak the barbarian, a proud and noble leader of the group, gathered the band together outside a roaring campfire. Over the hills beyond, Deathfist Citadel lay in wait. The thudding footfalls of orcish armies echoed over the crackling flames. Together with F’Sheel, a dark elf scout, and Janusa, an intrepid human monk, they formed the frontlines of their rebellious attacking force.
Backing them up were Gelig, a dwarf priest who holds together the group in times of crisis; Perish Tel, a wood elf druid; and the hooded Tykisa, a high elf mage. Together, they waited for the night to end with uneasiness, for the next day was the start of their first major raid.
The morning arrived to the sounds of orc battle cries.
Hoorak woke up everyone while Gelig prepared the provisions; they had to move quickly. Three orcs ran right past their cleverly-hidden outpost, armor gleaming in the sun. F’Sheel watched as they marched off towards the shimmering moat lined with crooked tusks – Deathfist Citadel stood before them, pennants waving in the dawn wind.
They ran across the plains together towards the gate, under the watchful eye of Tykisa, once the first wave of orcs passed. The goal was to gain as much ground before being spotted, which was inevitable.
At the main gate, the orcs were already there to greet them.
Hoorak struck with his sword, Perish Tel cast a fierce fireball towards the orc leader, and Gelig reinforced them with powerful defensive magic. “Before the gates close – quick!” yelled Hoorak, but the battle was already too much to handle. Was it a mistake, coming all the way out here to fight an army this formidable?
“Stand fast!” Gelig bellowed. Tykisa and Perish Tel held their ground.
The orcs fired their crossbows and advanced…
