Halasian Soldiers Clash with Ykesha

Verant/SOE

Freeport Observer:: }-------------------------} Vol. 9 No. 8 ~ Halasian Soldiers Clash with Ykesha ~

Only Ykesha himself could defeat the warriors of Halas in an open field of battle. As steadfast allies of the Frogloks, the people of Halas made a preemptive attack against the camped armies of Ykesha. Survivors report that at first the Northmen caused many casualties in the Troll ranks. It was when Ykesha himself lumbered towards the front line that things turned sour for the Barbarians. Whether by Ykesha's shear fearfulness, or his savagery in battle, the soldiers were cut down.

Brave, but foolish!" commented the captain of the militia. "You cannot defeat an army of Trolls with brute strength alone! Perhaps gnomes but not Trolls! Trolls may be slow, but they are big, strong, and they regenerate their wounds quickly. You need fire, you need ice, and you need a longer reach than their anvil shaped arms! Not clubs and swords!"

Tensions continue to rise as the armies of Ykesha and Gukta prepare to battle. Both sides are calling for aide from all the nations of Norrath. Some are answering the call, but most of the support for both armies are coming from adventurers of all types. Allying themselves to a side, all looking to partake in the spoils of war should their side win.

~ Innkeeper Toras Arrested ~

Innkeeper Toras has been arrested for the murder of Brangdar and his comrades. According to officials, the innkeeper plotted against Brangdar the moment he noticed that he was making quite the coin with his armed protection services. He arranged to have Brangdar's troop ambushed and murdered in the Commonlands and make it appear as if they were another victim of the Dark Elf raids. Brangdar and his troop were a force to reckon with. It is suspected that Toras arranged for his hitmen to be escorted by Brangdar and when their guard was down they struck. This would also explain why no corpses were found other than those of the Dwarves.

Brangdar did not have a home in Freeport and all his earnings were kept in a safe in the inn. With Brangdar and his troop murdered, the innkeeper would be able to raid the safe and nobody would know if anything went missing.

This betrayal was discovered when a good friend of Brangdar, a Barbarian by the name of Lensco, came to investigate the murder. He figured out who was behind the murder when he noticed Toras was toting around Brangdar's pipe.

After I saw Brangdar's pipe, I knew something foul was afoot. The Tribunal then led me to justice!"

Toras is currently in the custody of the Freeport militia while the militia is investigating who his accomplices are.
