Garrk Stonearm to run for Vacant Miner's Guild position

Rumors are true, Garrk Stonearm has officially put his name in for the vacant Miners Guild Captain spot. Garrk has been working the Kaladim mines for over thirty years and is believed to be a top contender for that position.

Garrk will make 'imself a great Miners Guild Captain. Nope, no doubt in my mind o' that. Well, we were in the ol' tavern the o'er day enjoying an ale or three and I just mentioned t' em, Garrk, when're ya gon' to put in fer that captain position ya crazy dwarf? I guess he took wa' I said to say to 'em to 'eart and did it! Har, good listenin' to yer drinkin buddy, Garrk!"

As of this time, Garrk is the only one to apply for the position, and is believed to win the vote by default, but we'll keep ye updated for sure if someone else put in their name too!

~ Fighting Continues in Freeport - Dark Elves Remain Aggressive ~

The attacks on Freeport from the marauding Dark Elf gangs in the Commonlands seem to be on the increase since our last report. All citizens living outside of Freeport were ordered to retreat to inside the walls immediately by the Freeport Militia.

Though the Temple of Marr has not yet taken action, it is believed that it'll only be a matter of time until they ride against the Dark Elf murderers. Our correspondent in Freeport was able to speak briefly with Guardsman Odum, a veteran in the Freeport Militia.

The Dark Elves want war. There's no doubt about it, those murderous scum will stop at nothing to kill us all, but don't think for a moment that we'll go down without a fight. I'll kill every last cave elf in Norrath if I have to, there's no way I'll let them hurt Freeport or any of its citizens. I just wish the commanders would give us the order to attack, we could defeat them all with a single strike and send them back to their caves to cower in fear where they belong."

With recent developments, however, the omens speak of a war to come. Even the Guktans have expanded their army and are preparing camps throughout Innothule to better protect its borders. We spoke with Guktan Elder Froops about the rumors of war.

Frooak! Well, you can never be too careful. We don't trust the Dark Elves any further than we can throw them. We want to ensure our city is safe and our citizens protected. We strongly suggest that anyone else that values their homes to do the same. We will not let those foul beasts in to our city, and better safe than sorry! Frooaaaak!"
