Greater Faydark Under Attack!
The Mining Journal:: }-------------------------} Vol. 9 No. 5 - Special Edition ~ Greater Faydark Under Attack! ~
After a bloody battle hundreds of Orcs and Elves alike lay dead in the Forest of Greater Faydark.
Damn those Orcs, we knew it was only a matter of time until they attacked us. With all that's been going on in Norrath these days it's a wonder it didn't happen sooner. Caught us by surprise they did, but never again. The Emerald Warriors shall always be vigilant and a tragedy like this will not befall Greater Faydark again." Said Rend Firstrike, a commander in the Emerald Warriors. Though Rend was not seriously injured in the battle, many others were. The wounded are being treated by the servants of Tunare in Kelethin and Felwithe.
This episode has brought the Koada'Dal and Feir'Dal into the conflict that had previously been restricted to Freeport. The Elves of Felwithe and Kelethin have declared their support for any others that this wave of conflict might engulf and plan to travel where needed to offer their assistance once their preparations are complete. It is unknown at this time, however, due to the battle with the Orcs, when the army will be ready to travel.
Rend commented, "While some say that we should not be so hasty to leave our cities under-defended, our leaders believe that a large enough garrison has been left to repel any assaults from would-be invaders. Patrols will also be increasing in the forest edges to keep the Orcs at bay."
King Stormhammer has not had much to say about this turn of events, other than that Kaladim will assist Kelethin and Felwithe with repairing damage to their cities and providing medical treatment for the wounded.
~ Mine Shaft Accident Kills Three, Injures Many ~
A shaft in the Darkore Mine collapsed yesterday, killing three workers and severely injuring many others. The cause for the collapse is unknown. Ferg Duntson saw it all first hand, and this is what he said happened.
Well, I was standin o'er there with me trusty pick in me hands read t' do some diggin'. We was all hard at werk when suddenly we 'erd a loud crack and the whole mine started rumblin'. The foreman yelled at us all to get our arses outta there, but some o' the guys didn't make it. Ardy Broadaxe was one that didn't make it out 'n time. I'll miss that dwarf for sure. Good miner, good drinker."
A memorial service is planned to remember the three that were killed in the accident. More details concerning the memorial will be available at the Miners Guild Hall.
