The moonlocket reveals another vision of Dyn'leth before and during his mother's passing. In his adolescent years, Dyn'leth changed in a matter of moments. A single day. His Elddar elven body swiftly changed into a half-dragon, half-elf creature as his skin shed in places and horns and wings revealed themselves. Veldyn came upon Dyn'leth as he changed and a mother could not have been more horrified at seeing her child in pain and anguish, experiencing something she could not protect him from.
But Dyn'leth was not to be pitied. As Dyn'leth gazed upon himself, his heart brimmed with pride at his uniqueness, his newfound strength and abilities. Even Veldyn knew that her son's physical change was only part of the metamorphosis. His whole demeanor shifted into shadow and darkness. But even that darkness and pride in him could not overrun the son's love for his mother.
It was that day when Lethar revealed himself as the great black dragon he was. The guardian of the scale who aimed to create a lasting trusted servant in a son. When Lethar saw his son become more like himself, he came to love him and have great pride in his creation. But Dyn'leth did not, and would not, return that love.
Having no use and no respect for his lady, Veldyn, as she cried and screamed at Lethar for his deceit, he breathed a rain of acid over their chambers. He did it once as a show of power over Veldyn and once to test the resilience of his son. While Dyn'leth came through the acidic shower unscathed, Veldyn suffered greatly. Her skin would never fully heal and she was scarred nearly beyond recognition.
Veldyn's Passing
Dyn'leth became all-consumed with preventing the death of his mother. Every moment he was awake, he took all he learned from his mother into the forests below, collecting herbs and medicines to heal her. He also kept her sickbed ringed by fresh gloom blossoms, her favorite flower. He managed to sustain her for three agonizing months until he came to realize that she only lived on for him, to protect him and his heart. She was in constant pain, though smiled through it often.
