War in Faydark!

~ War in Faydark! ~

Orcs have attacked Elves in Greater Faydark. This is nothing out of the ordinary, unless you consider the scale of the battle.

The Elves of Faydark, both High Elves and Wood Elves, were gathering supplies and training troops to send to Antonica if they were needed to fight off the Dark Elves. The Orcs, being rather stupid, thought that they were planning to attack Crushbone and they gathered up and attacked the Elves first.

The attack was devastating. Many Elves were killed and most of their supplies destroyed. It was a heartbreaking scene under the shade of Kelethin. Wounded Elven soldiers making piles of dead Orcs for burning and others carefully placing the fallen Elves in neat rows across the forest floor for blessing and return to Tunare.

Ran Sunfire was elected to give details about the battle to the curious, though it was obvious to our reporter that she would rather be out killing Orcs. She told the small group of reporters about the Orc attack.

If they saw our preparations as threatening, then that just shows their ignorance of the situation outside their Orc-centric world. We'd heard that they were assembling troops, we just didn't expect they'd attack us. It seemed foolish for them to come into the forest in force when they could defend that crappy cave of theirs forever with a small number of elite troops."

Once Ran's injuries were healed she left to tend to her brothers, sisters and cousins that had fallen in the battle. We followed her and helped where we could. The loss of life here is terrible to see, but it is worse to look at the survivors and see the sadness and loss in their eyes. Elves are a graceful and beautiful people, but over the course of their long lives we tend to think that they would become inured to the pain of loss like this. This is not true. They suffer more than we might, for these were their friends and lovers of centuries. We have all suffered a great loss this day.

Thanks should be given to the adventurers that showed up to help defend the city and the Elves. They might have been the difference between the terrible losses of the day and the complete destruction of Kelethin.

We have been told that there were Dark Elves among the Orcs. We have known for years that the Dark Elves were allied with Crushbone, and it comes as no surprise that they might be responsible for this attack.
