The End of the Empire Volume I

The Combine Age was one of ever-increasing knowledge and prosperity for the mortal races on Norrath. We mark that era as being nearly five thousand years after the Void and the galaxies came into existence.

From our records, it was the 4976 Acunum Vocivus (A.V.) Combine Summit in Felwithe to which the Teir'dal, known as dark elves, were first invited to participate in the annual event. Tsaph Katta, Imperator of the Combine Empire, spent many years convincing the elders of the great body of magic users to broaden their minds and extend its membership beyond the human race. Over many years, small advances were made as the Erudites, high elves and wood elves were joined. And then more races.

But it was the admission of the dark elves that etched a growing rift between the Combine leadership. It was this time when General Seru, a trusted friend and leader of the empire, began to cast doubtful glances and jeers toward his old friend, Tsaph Katta. Seru looked upon the invitation to the dark elves as a betrayal to all humans. For a very long time, Seru frowned upon any race joining the empire, but it was the dark elves that broke his faith in his friend.
